The game is rated M because violence is central to the gameplay and because the game includes adult language and graphic blood and gore. "Unreal Tournament" is strictly a PC game, but the types of computer hardware that support it include Microsoft Windows, Linux, and OS X. Specifically, the war that has just ended was fought between reptile-like creatures called Skaarj and beings called Necris, which were created by an evil corporation called Phayder. There is nothing to do but fight in order to rebuild a community from scratch. The world in which "Unreal Tournament" is set is one of postwar chaos.
